On April 12th, DECAST Ltd. hosted PEO Simcoe Muskoka for a tour of their state-of-the art manufacturing facility on County Road 56 in Utopia. Before the tour, our guide David Archer discussed many of the challenges facing the Ontario precast industry, showed us exciting past and present projects, and exhibited some of their new and innovative products. It only got better from there. DECAST’s advanced machinery was on full display during the tour as automated machinery selected, cut, and welded rebar grids and cages. Overhead concrete trolleys transported fresh concrete from their inhouse mixing plant throughout the building like clockwork. Storm and sanitary pipes were reinforced, formed and cast by the minute.

Overall, this was an exciting tour that illustrated and exhibited the advancements in technology in an aging field. We would like to extend a thank you to David Archer and the rest of the DECAST team for making this visit one to remember!
