Snow and Ice Melt System Design

This seminar provides a fundamental understanding of the snow and ice melting design process and the types of control systems which are used.
Topics include using ASHRAE guidelines to estimate SIM loads, determining SIM pipe sizing and spacing, calculating flow rates, determining head loss and selecting circulators. In addition, selecting control strategies and a method for estimating operating costs are discussed.

Our presenter, Mihai Broscatean is Business Development Manager for REHAU Industries Inc. in Sales Office Toronto, responsible for sales and technical support of the Building Solutions Division of REHAU in eastern Ontario. Mihai was active in the heating business since his graduation of University in 1992 and is active supporter and influencer of the hydronic heating market since he started his activity with REHAU in 2007.
Responsibilities include all aspects of sales, design, and service for REHAU’s Radiant Floor Heating Systems, Radiant Cooling Systems, Geothermal Systems, Residential Fire Protection Systems, Plumbing Systems and Energy Transfer Piping.
Activities like trainings and seminars for various levels of the industry, as well as job site visits, installation supervising and commissioning support of complex installations are common elements on Mihai’s agenda.
