Did you know that the Engineers-in-Residence (EIR) Program is currently recruiting engineers to work with registered EIR schools all over Ontario? EIR provides a rich opportunity for engineers to connect with children across Ontario and help them learn more about engineering in innovative ways.
The EIR Support Team is looking for more engineers to support the Engineer in Residence program for the 2020-21 school year!
The deadline to apply is May 31st.
What is PEO’s Engineer-in-Residence (EIR) program?
The EIR program is an outreach program (founded by PEO). It matches P.Eng. and EIT volunteers with a high school or elementary school in their community. The volunteer EIR helps teachers bring a real-life dimension to the curriculum through hands-on projects, presentations and other activities inside and outside of the classroom. The EIR program has developed proven outreach materials and strategies that you can use to bring engineering to life for students or you can come up with your own lessons based on your passions and expertise.
What does an EIR volunteer do?
EIR volunteers visit their school’s classroom during the school year (September – June) approximately once per month during school hours. Please visit the Engineer-in-Residence website www.eir.ca for more information and to apply.
How much of my time does it take to be an EIR volunteer?
Contribute as little as four hours a month throughout the next school year (September 2020 – June 2021).
Deadline for applications
Please apply on the EIR website before May 31st to be matched in June and step into the classroom in September.
