On November 9th, the PEO Simcoe-Muskoka Chapter hosted its annual Fall P.Eng. Licence ceremony. There was rain, and then more rain, but that did not stop 144 golfers from local PEO and OACETT Chapters from participating in our annual golf event on September 13. This event is used to generate funds for the PEO and OACETT scholarship funds where the PEO Simcoe-Muskoka Chapter was able to raise nearly $1500! On March 23, students from across the Simcoe-Muskoka Chapter descended upon Georgian College to participate in National Engineering Month activities hosted by the local PEO and OACETT Chapters. On March 2nd, children from Simcoe-Muskoka had fun at the Engineering Circus hosted by Engineers of Tomorrow Barrie. The event, held at Georgian College, took over kids through four unique stations consisting of a “big-top building station”, a catapult, a balloon rocket and an electrical circuit. On November 29th, the Simcoe-Muskoka Bridge Breaker paid a visit to the Civil Engineering Technologist program at Georgian College in Barrie. Second year students formed teams to test 19 of their Popsicle stick bridge designs. Professional Engineers from the chapter assisted with the event and everyone had an enjoyable day in the lab.
On November 15, seven Professional Engineers in the Simcoe-Muskoka Chapter received their Professional Engineering Licences at a presentation ceremony and dinner held at the Barrie Country Club.
