DESCRIPTION:Tour of the Canplas  factory  making thermoplastic products for the building and construction industries\n\n\n\nCanplas Industries Ltd. is a proudly Canadian manufacturer of thermoplastic products for the building and construction industries.  Started in 1966\, Canplas makes and distributes products for the plumbing\, roof ventilation\, central vacuum and separation technology markets in North America and globally. \nThe manufacturing facility is 157\,000 sq. feet with 170 hourly employees. Major equipment includes  54 injection molding machines\, 14 of which are all electric and ranging in size from 110 ton to 1500 ton. There are three automation centers and six gantry style robots.  There is resin silo monitoring system. \nSome of there energy efficiency equipment include VFDs\, magnetic bearing chiller\, variable speed compressor\, electric presses and LED lighting. There is a Building Automation System. \nCanplas is headquartered in Barrie\, Ontario – with offices in Edmonton\, Alberta and Langley\, B.C. Canplas employs over 250 people. \nCanplas holds over 70 patents and design registrations for products and has numerous production and machinery innovations.   \nThe tour is open to PEO members and friends. Please bring your safety glasses if you already have them.  \nThe price of the tour is $15.00 plus an Eventbrite fee and HST. All proceeds from the tour will go to supporting the PEO Simcoe Muskoka Chapter Scholarship Fund.
